"Texas sheriffs will soon start charging jailed inmates for their basic healthcare costs.
WHAT DO YOU THINK: Should criminals behind bars be required to pay a co-pay before receiving medical treatment?"
"Let's Do Our Research"
I'm going to make a CLEAR statement... Let's do our research.
The problem is when the DA's have +95% conviction rates while police are increasingly guilty of making arrests without probable cause. Abuse of power is out of control. Judges,community officials, elected public leaders are seen in scandals far too often.
When corruption is obvious, in the open, reported on multiple outlets, and can easily be located with a few moments of research we have the obligation to make a moral stand against a system that will COERCE CITIZENS TO TAKE A PLEA against charges or allegations that seldom have evidence other than the false report itself.
Do your research friends. We have an obligation to PAY ATTENTION to corruption in our culture and communities, taking action to ring the bell informing our family, children, and neighbors of the issues and agendas that stand to oppress and manipulate a distracted public.
The issue of free healthcare and education for those in our prison system has been questioned. That should be addressed but the issue is a bit more complicated - a bit deeper. With the reported statistics of falsely accused, convicted, and incarcerated, the issue is depriving those innocent individuals their rights.
Again, LET'S DO THE RESEARCH. How many cases have been overturned, after 5 years, 10 years, 18 years+ of being incarcerated. So then how can their access to basic medical services be denied?
Of course this does not apply to those who have indeed committed offenses;
However putting an additional financial burden on the falsely accused and their families is criminal in itself. Loss of wages, fees, taxes, surcharges, fines - where does it end? How can we be blind to a system driven by greedy pockets?
ALL THIS while Sheriff's, Deputies, Constables, and other city officials are constantly being given preferential treatment as they ignore, disobey, and pervert the very justice system we trust them to uphold.
